The Clonmel Show once again lived up to its reputation as one of the county’s biggest summer events, with thousands making their way to Powerstown Park on Sunday for a day blessed with glorious July sunshine.
An estimated 15,000 to 20,000 people passed through the gates, enjoying everything from livestock judging and horse competitions to trade stands, children’s entertainment and live music. The grounds of Powerstown Park were buzzing from early morning, with something to catch the eye around every corner.
The livestock section was as competitive as ever, while the horse rings drew large crowds throughout the afternoon. Loose Cannon kept the atmosphere lively with music that had plenty of people singing and dancing, while the many food stalls and market traders ensured nobody went hungry.
Among those enjoying the day were Tipperary Rose Fiona Kennedy and Deputy Michael Murphy, both taking time to meet exhibitors and visitors.
However, the biggest cheers of the day belonged to the ever popular Donkey Derby. Hundreds packed around the arena for one of the show’s most entertaining events, and they weren’t disappointed. After a thrilling contest, Paddy Coady crossed the line to claim this year’s title before being lifted shoulder high by fellow competitors and friends in celebration.
The Clonmel Show Committee deserve enormous credit for another exceptionally well run event. With huge crowds, fantastic weather and a great atmosphere from start to finish, the 2026 show will be remembered as one of the best in recent years. The Clonmel Show deserve the title as the greatest show in Town. It was massive success and a massive well done to all volunteers and committee members. See you all next year.
